Student Leadership Initiative
The guiding spirit of the ACS Student Leadership Initiative is to promote and develop leadership capacity among the ACS student volunteer base through community-based leadership development trainings. The last several years have been witness to an incredible surge of student involvement with ACS programs. The increased involvement of students in roles with increasing responsibility and influence has brought a new set of volunteer leadership demands never before present. The ACS Student Leadership Initiative aims to empower student leaders across the country to step into these new leadership roles and serve the Society, our nation, and our world.

The National rollout of the Student Leadership Initiative training program relies on Mobilizers from each Division of the American Cancer Society to pursue opportunities and advocate for the Initiative in communities and in their Division as a whole. Although the Student Leadership Initiative is present across the Nation, it operates on the Division and community level to best serve the needs of ACS volunteers.
Statement of Purpose for Student Leadership Initiative Division Mobilizer Program:
To recruit and train a cohort of passionate and dedicated volunteers who will serve as the ground army for a nationwide effort to bring a leadership development experience to American Cancer Society volunteers working in communities. Mobilizers will work in concert with Division staff and volunteers, along with support from a National network of SLI Division Mobilizers, to help realize the SLI spirit within their Division.
